Oath of Office

Sheriff’s offices all across America are being bombarded with questions like “are you coming to get my guns?”  There is a lot of fear right now as to whether we will lose some of our Constitutional rights.

Emotions are so high.  I had a local citizen tell me, when I come for his guns, that is where they will find me laying.  I have no idea why people say things like that.  This office has never, nor will we ever illegally enter a citizen’s home to seize their property or persons.  This is what makes America such a good place to live because we have a United States Constitution with a Bill of Rights, which guarantees each of us certain rights that have been protected over and over again by the brave men and women of our military, law enforcement, and the courts of this great nation.

There is a group in America trying to get more Sheriff’s to join them so we can be aware of the oath we took when we took office. Any Sheriff that is just now becoming aware of the oath he took, has probably been relatively inefficient in his service .  The oath I took when I became a law enforcement officer and again as Sheriff comes from Article VI of the U.S. Constitution, stating “ I am bound by oath and affirmation to support the Constitution………….”, and I will!  I served in the military to protect this great nation and I continue to serve to protect the rights of all!

Amendment IV of the Constitution states “ The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable  searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized”.  This Office will never violate your Constitutional rights and never has.  I stress to my officers each day the importance of supporting the oath we took, protecting those we serve.

All have a right to bear and keep arms, guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, or tools required to protect yourself and your property.  As a continuing service to you, I have added a training video to my website.  I want you to understand even if you don’t want to own a firearm, you can protect yourself.  This video will help you, whether you are armed or not.  Of course the best response to an armed criminal is an armed citizen who is trained and highly proficient with his/her weapon.  To view the video, simply go to the Public Information link on this site and then click on the video.

This office is dedicated to protecting your rights and helping you gain the knowledge and skills to assist you to not be a victim of crime.  Stay safe.
